There is something truly timeless about a waterfront wedding in Old Saybrook, CT. As a CT wedding photographer, I find that Saybrook Point Inn Resort and Marina offers one of the most picturesque settings in the state. Perfectly situated right where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound. It is a one stop destination spot for your wedding guests, providing ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in the same place.

When we shoot at Saybrook Point, there are a few “must-have” spots that really showcase the beauty of the resort:
- The Compass Rose: The gorgeous tile work near the docks and often the location for your outdoor ceremony, is the perfect spot for a beautiful view of the harbor.
- The Docks: Walking along the marina offers both a luxury yacht feel and an upscale relaxed vibe that is perfect for bridal party photos and is also my favorite spot for photographing couple’s shots.
- The Lighthouse Suite: For a truly unique view, the shots taken near the standalone Lighthouse Suite provide a quintessential New England nautical feel.
- The Waterfront Terrace: Can’t ask for a more unique backdrop that’s for sure!
Photography Tips for Your Waterfront Wedding
- Lighting: The open water reflects a lot of light. And the position of the sun isn’t always in our favor. You’ll need to select a photographer who has a lot of experience shooting here at Saybrook Point inn. Someone who knows where and when to be at different times of the day. Also someone who knows how to light you when the sun is not cooperating!
- The Breeze: Being on the coast means a lovely sea breeze. This is great for “movement” shots with your dress or veil!
