A Once in a Lifetime Celebration at The Society Room of Hartford

There is a certain kind of beauty to Hartford, CT weddings that you just can’t find anywhere else, and Victoria and Noel’s big day was the perfect example. Their journey began with a breathtaking ceremony at the historic St. Patrick/St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, a space known for its stunning architecture, history, and precious little gardens amongst the city. After a simply beautiful ceremony, we headed to one of the most iconic venues in the city: The Society Room of Hartford.

I am always inspired by the Society Room of Hartford’s beauty and grandness. Stunningly high ceilings, once a bank, is home to a super cool and moody bank vault, a place that make you feel you are stepping into an era of glamor. For this couple, the venue provided a dramatic backdrop that complemented their timeless style perfectly.

One of the reasons I love photographing weddings here at Society Room is the sheer variety of backdrops. Here are some of my favs:

• The Iconic Bank Vault: No wedding at The Society Room is complete without a portrait in the bank vault. It’s the ultimate spot for romantic and moody couple portraits. We know how to light this space for a dreamy photo you want to hang on your wall!
• The Staircase: This is where we capture the “Grand Entrance.” A benefit of having 2 photographers at this venue is invaluable. Here we capture you walking down the staircase from the top and from the bottom level.
• Pratt Street: Pratt Street is amazing in so many ways. I can spend hours taking you in all the nooks and crannies of this beautiful street. Since I have roughly 45 minutes for the couple’s shots, I know how to move swiftly and effectively to capture as much as I can.
• The Mezzanine: I always head up here during the first dance to get a bird’s-eye view of the action and the beauty of the room. It’s the best way to capture a super special moment with all of your friends and family surrounding you.
